Skyline Meets Style: Boston’s Rooftop Jewel

Where the View Meets Vision

High above Boston’s historic Back Bay neighborhood landmarks, a district known for its Victorian brownstones, upscale shopping on Newbury Street, and cultural landmarks, a rooftop terrace stuns with more than just skyline views. Perched atop the iconic Raffles Hotel in the heart of downtown, the Long Bar & Terrace isn’t just another luxury hangout. It’s a statement of style, performance, and craftsmanship that transforms urban elevation into outdoor escape.

This isn’t your standard rooftop build. It’s a sky-high design moment that balances bold aesthetics with unmatched durability made possible by a carefully curated mix of Panoramic Porcelain Surfaces in Belmont Terrace and Obsidian set in a custom mosaic pattern on Nominee Gray 2CM pavers. The result? A tile-on-tile masterpiece that’s as unforgettable as the view it commands.

Tile That Tells a Story

What makes this rooftop sing is how seamlessly the design pulls together the modern glamour of the hotel with the natural drama of the city below. The matte finish of Belmont Terrace brings a soft, earthy warmth, while the dark tones of Obsidian ground the space with sleek sophistication. The two shades were water jet-cut into a striking custom pattern, meticulously mounted, and then fused to the Nominee pavers to create a seamless canvas underfoot.
From every angle, the flooring echoes the rhythm of the skyline, inviting guests to linger longer, sip slower, and soak in the scenery. It’s artistry and architecture in conversation where luxury isn’t loud but intentional.

Built to Dazzle. Engineered to Perform.

While the visuals steal the show, what’s underneath tells another story. Originally designed with marble in mind, the project team pivoted toward porcelain to handle Boston’s freeze-thaw cycles without compromising the aesthetic. The raised pedestal system, combined with the strength of the 2CM pavers' extra-thick surface specially engineered for outdoor use, offering superior durability and resistance to the elements, delivers unwavering stability.

And performance doesn’t mean sacrificing beauty. These slabs resist stains, scratches, and weather extremes, ensuring the rooftop looks just as striking after a snowstorm as it does on a golden summer evening.

Award-Winning Innovation

This kind of design excellence doesn’t go unnoticed. The Long Bar & Terrace took home the 2024 Commercial Porcelain Design Award at the Hardscape North America show, a testament to the vision, collaboration, and technical precision poured into every square foot.

A Rooftop That Rises Above

This terrace isn’t just a beautiful space; it’s a showcase of what happens when imagination meets innovation. Every material was chosen to complement the environment, elevate the experience, and outlast the elements.
With panoramic views at your feet and skyline drama on the horizon, the Long Bar & Terrace proves that outdoor living can be both daring and dependable. And the tile? It’s the foundation of it all: sophisticated, resilient, and ready for every unforgettable moment ahead.
