Earth Day 2026 - Celebrate Earth Day With Sustainable Tile

Earth Day is a yearly reminder that the materials we choose today shape the world we build tomorrow. For many builders and renovators, sustainability isn’t an option, it’s a cornerstone of long-term performance and value.

When you choose to build with sustainable materials, you can help reduce environmental impact without compromising durability or design. Here at Daltile, our belief in sustainability is built into every tile we manufacture.

Sustainability Built Into Every Tile

From raw material sourcing to end-of-life reuse, our approach to sustainability is rooted in our circular manufacturing model. We prioritize processes that reduce environmental impact while maintaining the strength and performance of our tile.

Our manufacturing process is centered on:

• Reducing, reusing, and recycling materials throughout production.

• Recovering and reusing water to minimize waste.

By prioritizing sustainable product design, we can help minimize environmental impact at every stage

Measurable Impact at Scale

Conservation efforts are most meaningful when they’re measurable. Across our North American operations, we’ve implemented systems that deliver real, quantifiable environmental benefits with our ceramic and porcelain tile.

100%

of our manufactured tile collections contain recycled materials.

Annually, we recover and reuse over

98%

of all process wastewater generated in our manufacturing plants to make our products.

Our measures conserve over

200 million

gallons of water per year.

On average, our facilities recover and reuse over

385 million

pounds of recycled and/or reclaimed material per year.

We’ve reduced our total energy consumption by

6%

across our sales service centers and distribution facilities since 2001.

All manufacturing statistics are based on full-year data collected beginning in 2021 and include products made in the following plants: Dickson, TN (2 plants); Fayette, AL; Florence, AL; Gettysburg, PA; Muskogee, OK; Dallas, TX; El Paso, TX; Sunnyvale, TX; Monterrey, MX; and Salamanca, MX.

These efforts reflect our commitment to sustainability at scale while supporting your tile needs.

Certified for Sustainable Building Standards

Daltile products are designed to support green building goals and regulatory compliance across a wide range of projects.

At Daltile, all our tile made in North America is certified under Green Squared, the tile industry’s leading sustainability standard developed by the Tile Council of North America (TCNA). This third-party certification ensures our products meet rigorous criteria across the entire product lifecycle, from raw material collection to end-of-life management.

Green Squared certification aligns with ANSI A138.1 standards and contributes to green building programs, including LEED®, making it easier to source tile for environmentally responsible construction.

Build with Better Materials

Material health plays a critical role in indoor environmental quality, especially in high-traffic commercial spaces.

Here at Daltile, our tile collections are manufactured with:

• Zero VOCs

• Zero Plastics

• Zero PVCs

• Zero Formaldehyde

• Zero Allergens

Why Tile Is a Smart Long-Term Investment

When it comes to our tile, sustainability and performance go hand in hand. Our ceramic and porcelain tile offer a durable, low-impact solution that supports long-term cost efficiency, making sustainable tile a smart investment for commercial projects.

Compared to many alternative materials, our tile can deliver:

• Lifecycles of up to 75 years

• Lower maintenance costs over time

• Fewer replacements across the life of a building

The result is a lower total cost of ownership and reduced material turnover, key considerations for large-scale projects.

Build Responsibly This Earth Day

This Earth Day, consider how material choices contribute to the long-term impact of your projects. By choosing responsibly manufactured, sustainable tile, you can reduce environmental footprint and deliver lasting value.

Sustainability isn’t just about meeting today’s standards. It’s about building for the future, and that is Our Promise.
